What Is Fractora?

Fractora is a medical aesthetic treatment used for skin rejuvenation and wrinkle reduction. It is a fractional skin resurfacing procedure that combines radiofrequency (RF) energy with microneedling. The treatment is designed to improve skin texture, reduce wrinkles, and promote collagen production.

How does Fractora work?

During a Fractora session, a handheld device is used to deliver RF energy through an array of small needles that create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. These micro-injuries trigger the body’s natural healing response, leading to collagen remodeling and tissue regeneration. The combination of RF energy and microneedling allows for deeper penetration into the skin layers, enhancing the overall effectiveness of the treatment.

Is Fractora Safe?

Fractora is considered a safe and effective skin treatment when performed by a qualified and experienced medical professional. However, like any medical procedure, it carries some potential risks and side effects that you should be aware of before undergoing the treatment.

The safety of Fractora largely depends on the skill and expertise of the practitioner performing the procedure. When administered by a licensed and trained professional, the risks are minimized. 

Some potential side effects and risks associated with Fractora may include:

  • Redness and Swelling: Mild redness and swelling are common after the treatment, but these side effects usually subside within a few days. We recommended using our post procedure kit to help with these symptoms. 
  • Discomfort: Fractora involves the use of needles and radiofrequency energy, which may cause some discomfort during the procedure. At Urban Beauty Bar we use topical anesthetic cream to help minimize any discomfort so that your treatment is enjoyable.
  • Skin Sensitivity: Your skin may be more sensitive after the treatment, and you will need to avoid sun exposure as directed by your esthetician. Our post procedure kit will be prescribed for maximum recovery with little to no downtime.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of Fractora treatments you will require can vary depending on several factors, including the specific skin concerns and goals you want to address. The severity of those concerns, your skin type, and your individual response to the treatment. Typically, a series of three Fractora sessions is recommended to achieve optimal results.

In many cases, patients see noticeable improvements after a single Fractora treatment, such as improved skin texture and a reduction in fine lines. However, for more significant and long-lasting results, multiple sessions are often recommended. A typical treatment plan may involve anywhere from 3 to 6 sessions spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart.

One of our Medical estheticians will assess your skin and discuss your  goals during an initial consultation. Based on this assessment, they will recommend the appropriate number of Fractora sessions needed to achieve the desired outcomes. Keep in mind that each person’s skin is unique, so the treatment plan will be tailored to your specific needs.

It’s important to have realistic expectations about the results and understand that improvements may be gradual over time as the skin undergoes the healing and rejuvenation process. Additionally, to maintain the benefits of the treatment, some individuals may choose to have periodic maintenance sessions after completing their initial treatment plan.

FRACTORA PRE-CARE:

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure for two weeks prior.
  • Avoid sun tanning, sunless tans and tanning beds for two weeks prior.
  • Avoid taking NSAIDS (aspirin, ibuprofen, etc.) Vitamin E, Fish oil, Gingko Biloba and Ginseng for one week prior to reduce your risk of bruising and swelling.
  • Avoid any active ingredients (Retinols, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Vitamin C, etc.) for 10 days prior.
  • Avoid alcohol and smoking 48 hours prior to the appointment.
  • Avoid dermal fillers or any form of injectables for a minimum of 2 weeks prior.
  • Avoid IPL/Laser procedures, unprotected sun exposure, or sunburn for at least 2 weeks prior to your procedure.
  • No waxing, depilatory creams, or electrolysis to the area being treated for 5-7 days prior. 
  • Do not shave the day of the procedure to avoid skin irritation. If there’s dense hair present in the treatment area, shave the day before you arrive for your appointment.

FRACTORA TREATMENT DAY:

  • Arrive to your appointment with clean skin. Refrain from applying heavy creams, lotions, or makeup on the day of your appointment.
  • Be sure to notify your provider if there have been any changes to your health or your medications since your last visit. Some medications may cause you to be more sensitive to the treatment and may result in burns or an allergic reaction.
  • Notify your provider of any cold sores, rashes, or open wounds ANYWHERE on your body (not just in the treatment area).
  • Notify the provider if you have any cosmetic tattooing on or near the area to be treated.

FRACTORA POST-CARE:

  • Refrain from touching the treatment area for at least 12 hours.
  • Patients may experience swelling, bruising, itchiness, redness, or sensitized skin for up to 5-7 days post treatment.
  • Refrain from consuming alcohol or smoking for 48 hours.
  • Avoid taking NSAIDS (aspirin, ibuprofen, etc.) Vitamin E, Fish oil, Gingko Biloba and Ginseng for four days post to reduce your risk of bruising and swelling.
  • Regular skin care routine including the use of active ingredients can be resumed one week post treatment
  • For 10-14 days post treatment, refrain from direct sun exposure.
  • Refrain from any strenuous activity as well as gyms, saunas, or pools for at least 24-48 hours post treatment.
  • Refrain from using makeup 48 hours post treatment.
  • You may use an SPF 48-72 hours post-treatment.
